What Is Lumecca?
Lumecca is the most powerful intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment available for pigmented and vascular lesions. One month before treatment, avoid direct, excessive sun exposure or tanning.
What should I expect during and after Lumecca?
During treatment, the Lumecca will produce a bright flash of light that will feel like a light elastic sensation. After treatment, redness and slight warming of the skin are normal and usually go away within an hour.
Over the next 24-48 hours, you may notice a darkening of pigmented spots; the pigmented lesions will flake off, resulting in an even skin tone. Following treatment for vascular lesions, you may notice the vein blanch and disappear, or a color change in the vessel that fades after a few days.
How many sessions are required?
After the first session, you will notice an improvement in the appearance of your skin. Multiple sessions yield even better results. The severity of skin damage, skin type, type of treatment (vascular vs sun damage), and energy settings all influence treatment regimen.
How quickly will I see results?
Results for sun damage and skin complexion can be seen a few days after the first session. The skin will continue to look younger and more radiant over time, with the best results visible after 1-2 weeks. Multiple photofacial sessions will improve the final outcome. Results from vascular treatments, such as facial telangiectasias, can be seen in as little as two weeks.

Are there any side effects?
The majority of patients have no side effects, and any skin reaction usually resolves within a few hours. Patients may experience sensitivity to sunlight immediately following treatment. It is advised to avoid tanning and direct sunlight.
